A play on the word 'axes' referring to the plural of 'axis'; the X and Y axes that everyone is familiar with.

 

They symbolize our strength and raw power, paying homage to our two key tools, ALICE and NEMO.  If you look closely, you will spot the letters 'A' and 'N' carved into the handle of each axe.
